Cyclists Tune-Up Your Ride Before Going Outside

With the warm weather giving us the motivation to get outside and in the presence of fresh air, we all must decide upon how we want to move around. For many, cycling is the way to go.

However, once that decision is made, there is a lot more to do than just pull the bike out of the home, wipe the dust off the seat, and make sure your helmet still fits. In short, we need to ensure that our bikes are firing on all cylinders. To do this, you must figure out whether or not everything is in proper, working order.

“It’s definitely important for people to get a tune-up at least every six months,” explains Justin Soares of Toronto’s Bike Depot. “That’s going to ensure the safety of yourself and other road users. It’s like the ABCs. You’re going to check for air, you’re going to check for brakes, and you’re going to check for chain.”

Of course, Google and YouTube can point you in the right direction when it comes to tuning up a bike. But, there are also professionals willing to help cyclists put the right pedal forward.
