When it comes to getting in shape, finding the right motivational force to get your buns in gear is key. On “The Biggest Loser,” contestants received that motivational force in the form of trainer Jillian Michaels. She would yell, speak tough truths, and even frustrate those she worked with. Beneath all that, however, was someone who cared for those she tried to help.
Outside of “The Biggest Loser,” Michaels – a certified personal trainer – is the co-founder of Empowered Media, LLC, “a monumental wellness empire dedicated to total-life solutions comprising all aspects of living well, including nutrition, fitness, self-help and overall lifestyle.”
With this platform in her back pocket, Michaels has a sizeable presence in the health and wellness industry. Through it, she has released a broad selection of books and DVDs, the majority of which focus on various ways to lead a healthier life.
“Having been the bullied kid, I have a tremendous empathy for the underdog,” said Michaels in an interview with Fitness Magazine. “I struggle against that feeling of being out of control, and so I’m hyper-focused on being in control and helping others get it. I don’t have sympathy for the underdog, though. I feel like that’s, ‘Aww . . . you are weak, poor you.’ [Forget] that! I will say it’s not easy to make a change. I understand that. It’s not easy for me, either. But you can do it.”
Michaels also has the My Fitness by Jillian Michaels mobile app (for iOS and Android). With this tool, individuals can create personalized workouts, and perform them with the famous fitness personality.
From “The Biggest Loser” to the multitude of health and wellness resources she has provided the world with, Michaels continues to flex her muscle.
